The Bible Society of Zambia membership renewal exercise was officially flagged off by the President of the republic of Zambia his excellence Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu on Thursday 20th February 2020 at state house in Lusaka. The president who is also the patron of the Bible Society of Zambia also renewed his membership during the event.
Speaking during the event, the president said the word of God was the anchor for every person. He called on Zambians to read the word of God so as not to fall prey to false prophets whom perpetrate wrong teachings. The President observed that a number of Zambians had fallen prey at the hands of fake prophets and pastors because of lack of knowledge which resulted from not reading and studying the word of God.
Speaking earlier, Bible Society of Zambia General Secretary Dr Abraham Chikasa thanked President Lungu for setting a good example by becoming a member and for his commitment to the work of the Bible Society of Zambia. He called on all Christians to join as members of the Bible Society to help BSZ fulfil its vision of seeing a Zambia where all people had access to the Bible in a language and form relevant to them.
And BSZ board President Mr.Webster Nonde said the day was very significant to the Zambian calendar as it set the tone for countrywide membership renewal of the Bible Society. Mr. Nonde thanked the President for finding time off his busy schedule to reconnect with the noble work of the Bible Society of Zambia.
Also present at the event were cabinet ministers, board members, trustees, staff and past board presidents of the Bible Society of Zambia.
